Olode, the deity of small pox and epilepsy; also one of the children of Obaluaye. The worship of Olode is usually outdoor but within the premises of shrines or temples designated for Obaluaye or Obatala.
Olode can be invoked to harm or save an individual based on moral justice. Olode also heals strange illnesses just as he can cause such diseases; known to be a fierce deity that has respect to social or spiritual standing of any human that provokes its anger. He is believed to be a quick dispenser of justice; instantly causes strange afflictions in those who violate the sanctity of his deital presence. Ijesha people are known to be major custodians of the Olode deity as well as the know-how regarding how the deity can be appeased or invoked.
