This piece of artifact is a wooden art work carved and dedicated to Olu-Igbo, the god of the wild. Images of different wide animals on the artifact show different varieties of animals that inhabit the forests in Yoruba land.
It is believed that if Olu-Igbo is appeased by hunters, he will make it easy for them to kill and capture games. This piece work of art showcases a number of animals that are native to the Yoruba forests arranged in a coordinated way to form a staff structure which is expressive of the spiritual powers of Olu-igbo over all forest animals. This is the reason all animals heed his calls.
Olu-Igbo is believed to rear all animals in the forest.
