Akaba Idena is the spiritual gatekeepers of an ancient Yoruba city. It is placed at the extreme end of the city. Idena simply means ‘to protect or guard’ the inhabitants of the city against external aggression.
This mystical repeller is found in many ancient cities of the Yoruba. Akaba Idena is propitiated during oro festival when evil lurking around a typical Yoruba city are warded off.
